INDIANA, Elkhart County SWCD — Speaking of kudos for folks working to improve or protect our environment, I want to thank Jordan Beehler of Elkhart County Soil and Water Conservation District, who convened the class and continues to provide volunteering opportunities…Earlier this year I asked if you had hugged your inner naturalist recently. A similar question for you to ponder today is, “Who’s your favorite naturalist?” When asked that question recently, several names come to me immediately, such as Rachel Carson, John Muir or Aldo Leopold. Not only did these three immerse themselves in nature and wilderness, they also became careful observers and inspirational writers. Their impacts may be hard to quantify, but they are clearly role models for many.
