MINNESOTA, Renville County SWCD – Renville County is facing a dilemma of possibly rejecting funds for a stream bank restoration project on Hawk Creek, where high water flows are increasingly chewing away at the channel’s banks. The project would reduce erosion and further deterioration of a streambank while also protecting a county bridge downstream of the site. The estimated cost is $484,000.Due to the size of the project, the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources wants the county to sign a 25-year operations and maintenance agreement for it, Holly Hatlewick, director of the Renville County Soil and Water Conservation District, told the commissioners.
