Belmont County SWCD applying for grants for youth conservation programs

OHIO, Belmont County SWCD – The Belmont County Soil and Water Conservation District is working to obtain funding for new youth conservation programs, one involving the Sargus Juvenile Detention Center.

“We want to install a three-bin composting program out there and turn that into a raised-bed garden program so the kids there can have some ownership and kind of learn where their food comes from and the impact they can have on the environment,” said Hannah Carpenter, operations manager for the Belmont County Soil and Water Conservation District.
