MINNESOTA, Brown SWCD – In 2014, after more than 10 inches of rain fell in 48 hours, the bluffs and roads at Brandon Hinderman’s farm sloughed away, compounding an ongoing problem with erosion on his farm along the Minnesota River.
“There’s a road with a culvert though it that got washed out. We live on a bluff over the Minnesota River and there were mud slides and trees down. There were a lot of issues with erosion and mudslides,” he said of his farm, which is north of Sleepy Eye.
Hinderman recently turned to Jennifer Hahn, who works with the Brown Soil & Water Conservation District. “I had worked with her on a couple of things in the past. She’s always been easy to work with, trying to help you get what you want in place.”
