Students explore nature first hand during Lakeland Science Day

May 22, 2019by ncdea

MICHIGAN, Branch County SCD – School may be out for summer in a couple of weeks but it didn’t feel like that on Monday during the Lakeland Elementary Science Day activities as fourth graders  were outside for most of the day for what could easily be called a “STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) field trip.” The Branch County Soil Conservation District organized the annual event.

The Lakeland Outdoor Center was where the various stations were set up for the children to experience the presentations relating to conservation practices and nature. Each of the seven stops was hosted by either a member of the Conservation District staff or a volunteer connected to the organization.
