Volunteers plant new forest at Elliottsburg park

May 11, 2019by ncdea

PENNSYLVANIA, Perry County CD – Braving rain and a swampy field, about 30 volunteers including West Perry students, residents and representatives of conservation groups began planting roughly 200 trees at the site of the future Lynn Sheaffer Dum Memorial Park in Elliottsburg on April 26.

“This will be a forest 10 years from now,” said Kristie Smith, water specialist with the Perry County Conservation District. “These trees will be over our head, and it’ll be awesome.”
